NPFL: Akwa United lose 2-0 to Katsina United in rescheduled match

Akwa United are second in the NPFL after defeat to Katsina United in a rescheduled game.

Akwa United missed the chance to go top of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) after a 2-0 loss to hosts Katsina United in a rescheduled fixture played on Thursday, March 29.
The game between Akwa and Katsina had to be postponed because of the Uyo based side's participation in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Katsina United defeated Akwa United through two first half goals, the opener scored by Martins Usule in the eight minute.

While Destiny Ashadi scored a screamer in the 34th minute, which turned out to be the winner, as Katsina held on.

On Wednesday, March 28 Enyimba International defeated MFM FC 2-0 through goals scored by Nelson Ogbonnaya and Chinonso Okonkwo.

Reigning champions Plateau United also closed the gap at the top of the table as they defeated Yobe Desert Stars 2-1 in a rescheduled fixture.

Goals from Amos Gyang and Emmanuel Odafe cancelled out Philip Asuquo's strike for Yobe.

The NPFL continues with matchday 15 on Sunday, April 1.
